SJIC Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the first step in getting admitted to treatment?

The first step toward admission is to call our Admissions Department: 1- 623-478-9400. Our admissions team is available 24/7 to provide information and answer any questions that you may have. They will also complete a complimentary, confidential phone assessment with you to help determine the appropriate level of care to meet your needs.

Do I need a physician referral?

No, a physician referral is not required for admission.

What do I pack for my stay at Successful Journeys?

Once you have completed the confidential phone assessment and scheduled an admission date with us, we will email or fax you a confirmation packet that contains information on what to bring and what to leave at home. When packing, please remember to bring a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) and, if you have health insurance, your insurance card.

Will I have a roommate?

Our professional staff strongly believes members benefit significantly from sharing living quarters during residential treatment. A shared room combats social isolation which is a typical behavior displayed by members who struggle with the symptoms of their mental health disorder.  Most members share a room with two or three other residents however on occasion the treatment team may conclude that is therapeutically beneficial for a member to stay in a single room.

Will I get individual sessions with my counselor?

The majority of the counseling is done in a group setting. Individual sessions may occur with your counselor and/or various members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, depending on your needs.

Can I smoke at SJIC?

Successful Journeys is a smoke-free residential setting. Smoking is only allowed outside of the residential facility in a designated area.  Smoke breaks will be every two hours starting at 8:00 am after chores, hygiene and breakfast up into 10:00pm with the exception of weekends in which last smoke break is 12 midnight.  Successful Journeys professional staff is committed to healing and changing lives and our philosophy is to treat the entire person while they are in our care. Our goal is to help each one of our patients regain freedom from their addiction and to live a full, healthy life.

Can I bring my laptop, cell phone or other electronics? What items are not allowed?

During the pre-admission process, our team will provide the member with a current list of items that are acceptable and prohibited, as well as suggestions on personal items that may make a member comfortable during his or her stay.

How long can my family stay with me when they drop me off for admission?

If friends and/or family accompany you to treatment, they are welcome (but not required) to stay for the initial paperwork process. This usually takes approximately 45 minutes.

Will I have access to a phone or the Internet?

Yes. Each facility has phones and computers with Internet access, which residents are permitted to use at specified times during the course of treatment. You will work with your treatment team to determine appropriate parameters for communicating with your loved ones during each stage of treatment.  Social media outlets are prohibited while in treatment.

Does Successful Journeys accept insurance?

Yes.  We are an in-network provider for many insurance plans, and also work successfully to negotiate single-case agreements for members who must rely on out of network benefits.  We, at SJIC, are always willing to perform a courtesy check with your insurance company. We encourage families and members to personally contact the insurance company, so that you can receive a full explanation of your coverage directly from your insurance company. How much does it cost?

Cost varies depending on length of stay, insurance, and other variables. Members are made aware of complete financial responsibility and obligations prior to admission to any SJIC program. At Successful Journeys, we believe strongly in our treatment services and we only recommend the best treatment plan for each and every individual.

Will Successful Journeys support my wellness and recovery after discharge?

We, at SJIC, know that the first year after treatment can oftentimes be the hardest. We invite every member to join our alumni group. Our alumni group can serve as an additional support group for continued success.

Will I be able to have visitors or see my family?

Yes. SJIC believes that family play a very important role in the wellness, recovery, and stabilization process.  You will work with your treatment team to determine when you are ready to receive visitors, and when it may be clinically beneficial to go out on pass. While visitation varies by individual progress, we encourage each member to invite his or her family to Family Day. Family Day is designed to provide families the education and support they need while their loved one is in our care. Members have the opportunity to attend Family Day with their family member as part of the treatment process.
